  1. Having closely read both Black Swan and Fooled by randomness I remain perplexed by Taleb's support of Paul Ryan. Before he came out for Ryan I had assumed that Ryan was the LAST politician he would support and here is why:

    1) Economics as Physics - Absolutely nobody, no one embodies this trait more than Paul. He sees it as a formula, if you just let 'the market' go everything will take care of itself. Paul feels this is 'proven science'.

    2) The idea of 'Stochastic Tinkering' - Seems to me it would be a GREAT idea to take some wealth from people who are not necessarily rich because of 'special gifts' but, in many cases, LUCK as Taleb points out over and over and over. Does it not make sense to distribute opportunity across as broad a swath as possible to pull people into working on problems? Improve schools, give opportunity to people who want to reach out for it. Yes there will be failures but there is a greater chance of big successes if you distribute opportunity instead of hording it amongst the lucky already rich.

    1. Excuse me Meant to say RON Paul not Paul Ryan. I make that mistake a lot.
